At the initiative of the student union, the protesters took a position in this important corner of the capital from 11 am to 4 pm on Monday. Leaders of different political parties and writers, artists, online activists, activists for women’s rights and people from different professions, including journalists, came and expressed their solidarity with them.
Traffic was interrupted for approximately two hours at the Shahbagh intersection. Later, around 2.30 pm, when the leaders and activists of the student union stepped aside, traffic normalized. Even after that, they protested at 4pm.
Traffic was stopped at the Shahbagh intersection demanding the arrest and trial of the rapists.
In the afternoon, the student union took out a procession of sticks from Shahbag and ended the program there as today. Anik Roy, the organization’s secretary general, also announced his position in Shahbagh on Tuesday: “We will hold a mass rally in Shahbagh again at 11 am tomorrow and protest against the rape,” he said.
In raising his demands, the general secretary of the student union said: “Rape after rape and violence against women are occurring in the country. We demand the speedy arrest of rapists and exemplary punishment.
“In addition, I demand the resignation of the Minister of the Interior for assuming responsibility for these incidents, so that a message can pass through his resignation that such incidents cannot continue in society.”

Former student union president and online activist Baki Billah not only sees a solution in the resignation of the interior minister, but has also demanded the resignation of Sheikh Hasina as prime minister.
Baki Billah said: “The practice of irresponsible monopoly power continues, so there is one violation after another happening.”
Expressing solidarity with the protest, Jonaid Saki, senior coordinator of the mass solidarity movement, said: “We are shocked by what happened in Begumganj, Noakhali. The most unfortunate thing is that these incidents are not new in this Bangladesh, an incident happens every day. The next day we learned something even scarier than our panic. Rape is not a horrible thing, but it is a horrible display of power.
“It is not just the power of the individual, but the power that the individual enjoys in a state, socio-politically, especially due to the patriarchal state system. We see events as the source of this power.”

“On the one hand, the patronage of power, on the other hand, the lack of justice, that’s why rapists, those who abuse sexually, abuse women outside the home,” he said. It’s your right. “
Bazlur Rashid Firoz, central coordinator of the Democratic Left Alliance, said: “Today, rapists are leaving loopholes in the law.” So today we have to change the law to ensure that the maximum punishment for rape is death. “
Abdullah Al Kafi Ratan, member of the presidium of the Communist Party of Bangladesh-CPB, said: “Today we are witnessing incidents of rape in various parts of the mountains and plains. But this government is inactive, these torture incidents are happening all over the country under its shelter. This government is indifferent despite the fact that the whole country is protesting against the oppression of women.

The Bangladesh Student Rights Council has also protested against the torture of women in Begumganj, Noakhali. They organized a procession and a rally under the motto “Students-People Against Rape and Oppression” in front of the National Museum in Shahbag around 1:00 pm
Former Dakshur Vice President Nurul Haque Nur said at the rally: “This gang rape incident is exposing the country’s legal system. Today, the Awami League has been in power for a long time and has created a mess in all sections of the state. Today the Chhatra League rapes, the Juba League rapes, the Awami League smuggles money. Today’s Delwar, Kalam rapes have seized the polls with da-chapati to keep the government in power. So the government has given them shelter in return. “
The nationalist student group also staged a protest at Dhaka University at noon demanding punishment for those involved in torturing women by stripping them. Leaders and activists from the BNP student organization organized a protest procession on campus. The procession gathered at the foot of the TSC Raju sculpture at the end of a tour of various campus roads.
In the student central president Fazlur Rahman Khokon, the general secretary Iqbal Hossain Shyamal, president of the university branch. Rakibul Hasan and Secretary General Amanullah Aman were present, along with more than 100 leaders and activists from the central and university branches.
Chhatra Dal President Khokon said: “If we look at the rape incidents in Bangladesh today, we can see that the leaders of the Chhatra League and the Awami League are directly or indirectly involved in every incident. If the violation is properly proven today, then the Awami League and the Chhatra League will become leaderless.
“We strongly condemn the incident that took place in Noakhali on behalf of the Bangladeshi nationalist Chhatra Dal and demand justice for this incident.”
