Globe Biotech, a subsidiary of Globe Pharmaceuticals, states that the potential vaccine has been shown to be “effective and completely safe” when applied to rats.
Globe Biotech has published a research article in the US-based online scientific archive Bioarchive, however the research work has not yet been peer-reviewed. In other words, no independent researcher has examined his research papers and verified the accuracy of his claims.
However, with the publication of the research article in the bio-archive, Globe Biotech will now be able to apply for ‘ethical clearance’ from BMAC for human clinical trials.
Globe Biotech Limited CEO at a press conference on Monday. Kakon Nag said his “Bancovid” vaccine would “work” against the D-614G variant, which is currently the most common form of coronavirus in the world.
“We have already administered this vaccine to rats in a complete and controlled preclinical trial. Bancovid has proven to be completely safe and effective. There was no adverse change or poisoning in the rat’s body before and after vaccination. “
Kakon Nag said the Globe is working with the Contract Research Organization for Biotechnology or CRO to develop a protocol for the experimental application of this vaccine. They will soon apply to the Bangladesh Medical Research Council for ethical authorization for the experimental application of this vaccine along with the protocol.
“Once we obtain ethical approval from BMAC, we will be able to request a clinical trial with the Department of Drug Administration as soon as possible.”
At a press conference held at Globe Pharmaceuticals headquarters in Tejgaon on July 3, Globe Biotech announced its efforts to develop a coronavirus vaccine.
However, neither the Bangladesh Department of Medicine Administration nor the Bangladesh Medical Research Council had information on the Globe Biotech study.
Vaccines for any disease are experimentally tested on the human body after passing several stages of testing, which are considered vaccines only after successful approval by the competent authorities.
There are now around two hundred studies in the world trying to create an effective vaccine for the new coronavirus. Of these, half a dozen potential vaccines have reached the final testing stage.
Chairman of Globe Pharmaceuticals Group Limited. Harun Rashid, manager. Officials, including Mohammad Mohiuddin, were present at the press conference.
