A joint crowd of students has taken a position at the Shahbagh intersection in the capital to demand justice for the torture and rape of a housewife in Begumganj, Noakhali and the gang rape of a girlfriend at MC College in Sylhet.
Bangladeshi leaders and activists Chhatra Odhikar Parishad, led by Daksu Vice President Nurul Haque Nur, held a protest at Shahbagh corner at 11am on Monday. Later, they met in front of the National Museum around 12 noon.
On the other hand, the leaders and workers of the student union took position at the Shahbagh crossing with a procession under the banner of the progressive student alliance. At the time of writing, they were holding a sit-in until 2 p.m.
Students are holding a protest rally at the foot of the Raju anti-terror sculpture at Dhaka University with the same demand.
By the way, a group of young people and adolescents entered a house in Noakhali’s Begumganj and tortured a housewife by stripping her naked. The 36-year-old was not spared even after grabbing the legs of teenagers who were her son’s age.
The victim or her family could not tell anyone about the incident 32 days ago out of fear. A video of the September 2 incident was released on social media Sunday.
The victim filed two separate cases at the Begumganj police station around 12:15 pm last night. She filed a case under the Prevention of Abuse of Women and Children Act. The other is in the Pornography Control Act.
The woman in the case statement mentioned that the accused tried to rape her by tying up her husband. They imagined a video of the incident. For the past month, they have been spreading this video and making unethical offers to you. They left the video because they did not agree with the unethical proposal.
The accused are- Badal, Md. Rahim, Abul Kalam, Israfil Hossain, Saju, Samsuddin Sumon, Abdur Rob, Arif and Rahmat Ullah. They all live in Begumganj.
The RAB has arrested two people, including the main defendant in the case, from Dhaka and Narayanganj; Noakhali police arrested two more people, the district police superintendent said. Alamgir Hossain reported.
The Begumganj OC Harunur Rashid model police station said the victim filed a case under the Prevention of Abuse of Women and Children Act and the Pornography Control Act on Sunday night. By mentioning the names of 9 people there, 7-8 anonymous people were charged.
Earlier on September 25, a girlfriend was gang-raped while visiting her husband at MC College. Chhatra League leaders and activists forcibly took her husband’s housewife and raped her in the bedroom around 8:30 pm. At that time, her husband was tied up in front of the university.
The victim’s husband filed a case at the Shahparan Police Station. Three other unidentified leaders and activists of the Chhatra League were charged in the case. So far, six people, including six defendants in the case, have been detained.
