Noakhali District Judge PP Gulzar Ahmed Jewel’s court said police appeared in court on Monday afternoon and detained the two defendants in custody for seven days.
“After the hearing, the superior judicial magistrate Masfiqul Haque granted them a preventive detention of three and six days in two cases.”
The accused are Abdur Rahim (22) and Rahmat Ullah (42). They were arrested in Begumganj on Sunday night.
On the night of September 2, a group of young people entered the home of a 35-year-old housewife in Begumganj, Noakhali, undressed her, physically abused her and recorded a video of her. A month later, on October 4, the video went viral on social media, causing a stir in the area.
The woman filed two cases under the Pornography Act and the Prevention of Abuse of Women and Children Act with the Begumganj Police Station on Sunday evening.
The accused are- Badal, Md. Rahim, Abul Kalam, Israfil Hossain, Saju, Samsuddin Sumon, Abdur Rob, Arif and Rahmat Ullah. They all live in Begumganj.
Among the accused, Rahim and Rahmat Ullah have been arrested in Noakhali.
Furthermore, the RAB arrested the main defendant Nur Hossain Badal (20) from Kamrangirchar in Dhaka on Monday morning and Delwar Hossain from Shimrail in Narayanganj on the Dhaka-Chittagong Expressway at around 2.30pm on Sunday.
The woman alleged in the case that her husband arrived at her father’s house on September 2 after a long time. She was in the bedroom with her husband around 9pm. The unidentified defendants, including Badal, Rahim, Abul Kalam, Israfil Hossain, Saju, Samsuddin Sumon, Abdur Rob, Arif and Rahmat Ullah, broke down the door and entered the house. She then beat her husband, tied him up in the next room, undressed him and tried to rape him. If he did not agree with this, the accused tortured him and recorded the video on his mobile phone.
At that moment, when the people around him came forward, the defendant threatened to kill him and left.
The complaint further stated that after the defendant left, he took refuge at his sister’s house in the Maijdi city district without informing anyone. While there, the defendants threatened to spread the pornographic video on social media if they did not accept their proposal over the phone.
Police rescued her from her sister’s home and detained her after a video captured on social media was released Sunday afternoon.
The video shows several young men stripping and beating a woman. One of them grabbed the woman’s face with one foot. They did not stop torturing despite repeated pleas.
