A 36-year-old widow was allegedly gang-raped after breaking down a door in Ramgati in Laxmipur. The rapists later tied the woman’s hands, feet and eyes, left her behind the house and fled.

The victim filed a case against five people at the Ramgati police station on Monday morning. Later in the afternoon, the police raided the village and arrested two defendants named Jamal and Sohel from the Charporagachha village of upazila.

The arrested Jamal is the son of Syed Ahmed from Charporagachha village and Sohail is the son of Abu Ahmed from the same area.

According to the police, the accused beat the woman a few days ago and broke her arms and legs. Later, the woman presented a case in court. Because of this, the woman was raped by entering the house in a planned manner. The victim has presented a rape case against five people. Meanwhile, two defendants have been arrested.

According to local sources, the woman married her only daughter after the death of her husband. As a result, she lives alone at home. The defendant had been harassing him for a long time. Recently, a widow got into a fight with them over this. They then beat the widow and broke her arms and legs. She still has bandages on her hands and feet. A case was filed in court for this incident.

Enraged, the defendant broke down the door on Saturday night and entered the house and raped the woman in turn. At one point, they tied his hands and feet with duct tape, blindfolded him, and left him behind the house and fled. Family members said there were signs of torture on the sensitive part of the woman’s body.

Upon receiving the news on Sunday morning, the police arrived on the scene and rescued the woman with her hands, feet and eyes bound and admitted her to the hospital.

The officer in charge of the Ramgati police station, Mohammad Solaiman, said that a case has been registered against a widow for gang rape. Two defendants have been arrested in the raid. They will be delivered to the field on Tuesday. The operation continues to arrest the three remaining defendants.
