‘The whole country could be in crisis if there is no exemplary punishment for the Noakhali incident’

Shaikhul Hadith, Secretary General of Hathazari Madrasa and Allama Junaid Babungari, Secretary of Education of Hifazat-e-Islam Bangladesh have issued a statement condemning and protesting against the brutal torture of a woman in Begumganj, Noakhali.

In a statement, he warned that if the real culprits of the barbarous Noakhali incident were not arrested and maximum punishment was not secured in a very short period of time, the entire country would be in a frenzy.

In a statement sent to the media on Monday, Hifazat’s secretary general said that the number of rape cases in the country has risen alarmingly in recent times. According to the newspaper, this incident in Noakhali has also defeated ignorance in Iyam. Hearing the details of this incident made my heart bleed. How can people be so violent? No mother-sister can sit quietly after being tortured in such a barbaric way.

Allama Babungari said it was unfortunate that a month has passed since the incident, but that local police have not been able to take any action against the looters. The local administration can never avoid this negligent liability.

He added that even after rape incident after rape in the country, exemplary punishment is not guaranteed to the accused. So rape has now become an epidemic.

He said that the veil is a fundamental right of women. Women are the safest on screen. If women can be kept safe, the individual, the country, the nation, the society and the family will be safe. There is no alternative to making the Sharia veil mandatory to prevent rape and violence against women.
