Narayanganj: The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-11) arrested two people, including the main defendant in the case of torturing a naked woman in Begumganj, Noakhali.
They were detained in a special operation on Monday (October 5) morning.
The captain of the RAB-11, the lieutenant, at a press conference at noon. Colonel Khandaker Saiful Alam said that on the night of September 2, a woman was brutally tortured in the Eklashpur Union 9th District of the Begumganj Police Station in Noakhali District. Subsequently, on October 4, the video of the incident was released in various print and electronic media, including social media, causing a stir across the country. The housewife filed a case against nine people 33 days after the incident around 1:00 pm on Sunday. In addition, a case was brought against him for spreading the video. Then the RAB began an extensive intelligence surveillance.

Delwar Hossain, 26, was arrested in a special operation on Chittagong Road below the Siddhirganj Police Station in Narayanganj District on Sunday October 4 at 2.30pm. A pistol, a magazine and two rounds of ammunition were recovered from Delwar Hossain, the head of the ‘Delwar Bahini’ involved in the incident.
The main defendant in the Nur Hossain Badal case (20) was arrested in the alley of the Kamrangichar outpost below the Kamrangichar Police Station in Dhaka District at 5:30 am on Monday.

According to the preliminary interrogation of the accused, on the night of September 2 some members of the ‘Delwar Bahini’ entered the house of the housewife, stripped her naked and physically tortured her in various ways. She then videotaped the incident and later demanded money by threatening to post the video via social media. When video of the incident went viral on social media on October 4, there was a stir across the country.
‘Delwar Bahini’ is known to be involved in extortion, drug trafficking and various terrorist activities in the area. The people of the area are terrified of them. There are already two murder cases against Delwar.
Meanwhile, the High Court ordered the removal of the viral video of the sensational incident from social media. The RAB continues its operation to arrest other criminals involved in the incident.
By the way, on September 2, the defendant tied up the husband of a woman at their home in the Eklashpur trade union of Begumganj upazila and tried to rape her. They videotaped the incident. For the past month, they have been spreading the video and making unethical offers to him. They left the video because they did not agree with the unethical proposal. The victim filed two separate cases at 12:15 pm last night. One case was filed under the Violence Against Women and Children Prevention Act and the other under the Pornography Control Act. Nine people were charged in the two cases. Police arrested Rahmat Ullah (41) and Abdur Rahim (20) in the case.
The viral video shows several young men stripping and beating a woman. One of them grabbed the woman’s face with one foot. Despite repeated pleas, they did not stop torturing.
The woman’s father told reporters that they did not dare to file a lawsuit against those involved in the incident for fear of being “influential.”
