Protests continue in Shahbag demanding the resignation of the Minister of the Interior in protest at the attempted rape in Begumganj of Noakhali and the increase in rape and torture across the country.

At least 300 people have started separate protests in Shahbag starting at 11:15 am under the slogan “Prisoner’s Time Cry”, “Students and People Against Rape and Torture” and the Bangladesh Student Rights Council.

With signs and slogans, most of the leftists demonstrated from Shahbagh to Kantaban and began protesting at the Shahbagh intersection at 12 noon.

They demanded the resignation of the interior minister for the failure and blamed the government for the increase in rape cases across the country.

The protesters alleged that members of the ruling party participated in most of the cases, from MC College in Sylhet to Begumganj in Noakhali.

Due to this protest, the speed of traffic in the Shahbagh area has decreased.

The ‘Student Village Against Rape and Torture’ has taken a stand in front of the Shahbagh National Museum under the leadership of the Bangladesh Student Rights Council.
