Police arrested two people for torturing a housewife by stripping her
Noakhali: In Begumganj Upazila of Noakhali, a case has been brought against nine people 33 days after the incident of torturing a housewife, binding her husband and raping her in their home.
The victim, a 35-year-old housewife, filed the case on Sunday (October 4) around 1 a.m.
So far, the police have arrested two defendants in the incident. Police arrested one defendant at 4 pm Sunday and another at 11 pm in the 9th district of Eklashpur Union.
The detainees were: the son of Sheikh Ahmed Dulal, Md. Rahim (20) and Mohar Ali Munshi from the same area, son of the late Abdur Rahim. Rahmat Ullah (41 years old).
The Officer-in-Charge (CO) of the Begumganj Police Station, Harun Ur Rashid Chowdhury, confirmed the matter, saying that five police units carried out a six-hour operation and detained two defendants. On the other hand, the police rescued the abused housewife from the home of one of her relatives in Master Para de Sadar Upazila.
According to the file, the housewife (35) entered the house around 9 p.m. on September 2 last month, tied up her husband in the next room, tried to rape him, and abused him. At that moment, when the housewife interrupted, she was stripped naked, severely beaten, and video footage was recorded on her mobile phone.
The CO further said that the police are working hard to arrest the other defendants. The arrested defendant will be sent to the district jail through the judicial court.
The video of the tortured housewife went viral on social media Facebook on Sunday, October 4 at noon, 32 days after the incident. This shocked the local administration. In the last 32 days since the incident, local defendants Delwar, Badal, Kalam and their associates have been harassing the family of the abused housewife for some time. At one point, when her entire family was forced to leave their homes, the entire incident remained hidden from the locals and the police administration for a long time. When the incident came to light, the police carried out a swift operation and arrested two defendants.
