A newborn has been rescued from the roadside in Satkhira’s Kaliganj. The newborn was rescued wrapped in cloth from Golkhali Road in upazila around 5:30 pm on Sunday.
Local fish farmers Israel Biswas, Abdus Sattar and Panchanan Mandal are known to have heard screams inside a cloth-wrapped bag 100 meters from Golkhali Mahashamshan on their way to the fish farm. They went ahead and saw a newborn baby inside the bag. The newborn baby was immediately rescued and admitted to the Kaliganj Surgical Clinic and later to the Upazila Health Complex.
Said the Upazila family health and welfare officer. Sheikh Taibur Rahman said that the newborn baby is healthy. It can be born 3-4 hours earlier.
Kaliganj Upazila Nirbahi’s officer, Mohammad Mozammel Haque Russell, said the boy would be adopted. However, if they cannot have children, parents must apply. Teachers or government employees will have priority.
