The High Court on Saturday ordered the return of former Attorney General KS Nabi’s two grandchildren to ensure their safety after they were not allowed to enter their ancestral home.

The court ordered the OC of the Dhanmondi Police Station to implement the order after a discussion on a private television show around midnight on Saturday.

The High Court bench headed by Judge Abu Taher Mohammad Saifur Rahman approved the order on its own initiative Saturday night.

Supreme Court attorney Manzil Morshed confirmed the order to the media. “I was involved in the Ekattar Journal live broadcast to speak about the rights of the two children,” he told the media about the order. During the live performance, a Superior Court court approved the order on its own initiative (Suyomoto). Later I found out the details of the order. The court said in its order that the CO of Dhanmondi Police Station should keep the two children in their home (grandfather’s house), ensure the safety of the children, implement the order and file a report in the morning.

Former attorney general KS Nabi owns a four-story house in the capital, Dhanmondi. According to sources, Kazi Adian Nabi and Kazi Nahyan Nabi, the two sons of Siratun Nabi, KS Nabi’s youngest son, have not been able to enter the home in recent days.

Following Siratun Nabi’s death on August 10, her two sons were evicted from their homes by their uncle Kazi Rehan Nabi a few days ago. Before, the parents of the two children divorced. After the death of their father, the two children remained in their mother’s shelter for a few days. The two boys then tried to return to their mother’s ancestral home. But they are no longer allowed into the house. After trying several times, the two children were unable to enter the house. However, the matter was reported to the Dhanmondi Police Station, but the children’s uncle and Supreme Court lawyer Kazi Rehan Nabi did not take the police into account.

Mehreen Ahmed, the aunt of the two children (daughter of KS Nabi’s sister), said their parents were separated by divorce. They lived with their father in their grandfather’s house. But after the death of the father, the two children became very sad and yesterday they returned home to their mother. But they did not open the door of the house. We communicate as a family. I called Kazi Rehan Nabi, the children’s great-uncle. But she said to return home later on the pretext of physical illness. We then reported the matter to the Dhanmondi Police Station. Then the police came, called him and asked him. So the Dhanmondi OC Police Station (Ikram Hossain Mia) asked us to go the next day. But when they returned home the next day and saw the two children, they were able to enter the house compound the day before, but the next day they saw the outside door locked and the dog stayed inside. We then report back to the police. But the police said, “We can’t do anything. Take refuge in court.”

A report on the incident was broadcast on Ekattar TV’s Ekattar Journal at 12 p.m. Saturday night. At the time, his uncle, journalist Rezwanul Haque, and Supreme Court attorney Manzil contracts Morshed were involved in a virtual discussion with the two children at Ekattar Journal. The matter came to the attention of Judge Abu Taher Mohammad Saifur Rahman during the program.

Following the television report, the high court of Judge Abu Taher Mohammad Saifur Rahman approved the order at midnight.
