Lucky just didn’t want to be a homemaker. I wanted to get a job. But her husband Ashraf Ali returned from Saudi Arabia on Tuesday (September 29). When he arrived, he did not make his wife Abdar. Lucky committed suicide by hanging himself.

However, her husband and in-laws reported that Lucky had been electrocuted to death. Later, when the police arrested the expatriate husband, he confessed to the marriage dispute. The incident took place in the Charamathurapur village of the Gunaigachha junction in Sujanagar upazila of Pabna on Friday night (October 2).

Police arrested Saudi expat Ashraf Ali on Saturday and sent him to jail.

Citing the locals, the police said that Ashraf Ali was married to Suraiya Parveen Lucky about a decade ago. Soon after, Ashraf moved to Saudi Arabia. They have a 9 year old boy at home. Ashraf Ali returned from Saudi Arabia four days ago. After her husband returned to the country, Suraiya Parveen said that she became self-sufficient by getting a job. But the husband said he would not let her work. Husband and wife fought over this.

Later, people from his father-in-law’s house began organizing his funeral on Saturday (October 3) morning by announcing that Lucky had died from electrocution. Relatives rushed to the scene after receiving the news. They see black spots on Lucky’s neck. Family members subsequently informed the police that the death was suspicious. The police went to the scene and recovered the body of Suraiya Parveen.

At that time, the police detained her husband Ashraf Ali for questioning and took him to the police station.

When questioned by the police, Ashraf Ali said that his wife (Suraiya Parveen) had committed suicide by wrapping a towel inside the bathroom due to a family fight. However, the bar and bath towel were removed. According to him, the towel was recovered and Ashraf Ali was arrested first and then arrested and sent to jail.

Chatmohar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (CO) Aminul Islam said Lucky’s family had no complaints. However, as the matter of death seemed suspicious, a case of unnatural death was presented at the police station and the body was sent to the morgue of Pabna General Hospital for autopsy.

Furthermore, her husband Ashraf Ali has been arrested under article 54 and sent to jail. The actual facts will be known upon receipt of the autopsy report. The CO said legal action will be taken in this regard.
