A mentally disabled (insane) young woman used to walk through Kola Bazar in Kaliganj upazila of Jhenaidah. You cannot say your name or identity. At one point, the young woman fell ill and settled in the family of a day laborer in the Upazila village of Maydharpur. When they took her to the hospital, the doctor reported that the girl was pregnant.
On Friday (October 2) afternoon, the mentally disabled girl gave birth to a girl at the Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex. Then, when the matter spread to Facebook, the question was: who is the father of this child? What will your lineage be? Who will take responsibility?
Jhenaidah (DC) Deputy Commissioner Saroj Kumar Nath rushed to the hospital at the time. He took the newborn in his arms. Kaliganj Upazila Nirbahi’s officer, Subarna Rani Saha, was present at the time.
Deputy Commissioner Saroj Kumar Nath said that the Prime Minister’s Office has been informed about the matter via Facebook. The Prime Minister’s Office has given me the responsibility to deal with this matter. The district administration will bear all medical expenses for the newborn and her mother as directed by the Prime Minister’s Office.
Early in the morning, the mentally disabled girl began to have labor pains and was admitted to Kaliganj Hospital by the Amjad Ali-Chhakiron Nesha couple, a day laborer from Maydharpur village in Upazila. Then, at around 4 p.m., a girl with a mental disability gave birth to a daughter.
Day laborer Amjad Ali said that an unidentified 22-year-old girl with a mental disability used to wander in Kolabazar of upazila. Sometimes she wrapped her body in dirty clothes and sometimes she said something with her half-naked face. If someone said something, it would come down. She was never in a bad mood again. But a week ago, the young woman fell ill on the side of the road in the village of Maydharpur.
He said that the helpless sick person is someone’s son or sister. Thinking about this, I admitted him to the Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex along with several others, including Abdur Rashid from that village. But the doctor on duty saw the patient and said that the girl was pregnant. Now you need adequate food and rest.
Amjad Ali said that when the girl received medical treatment at the hospital, she started to go crazy as soon as she recovered. The whole hospital got restless. He was forced to rent a car and drive it back to the area. Although many wanted to shelter it, all avoided it due to instability.
He said that in such a situation, the sick madman could not be released on the market for reasons of conscience. I took his home thinking of his unborn child.
Chhakiron Nesha, the wife of day laborer Amjad, said that although they had a poor family, they treated her like a member of their family.
Kaliganj Upazila Health Complex Physician. Afsana Parveen said that she had given birth through surgery as it was not normal at the time of delivery. However, both the mother and the newborn are healthy.
