RAB has found an arms factory in the deep hills adjacent to the Rohingya camp at Palangkhali in Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar. During the long-duration operation, three weapons, two rounds of ammunition and a large quantity of weapons manufacturing equipment were recovered from two arms dealers.

The operation was carried out on Madhurchhara hill in the Palangkhali junction of Ukhia upazila on Friday evening, said Major Mehedi Hasan, deputy commander of RAB-15 Cox Bazaar Battalion. He said that Abu Majid alias Kana Majid and Ravi Alam from Maheshkhali upazila were arrested at that time. They are arms manufacturers.

According to the RAB, the detainees had been stationed in the deep mountainous areas of Palangkhali for a long time and had been manufacturing weapons and supplying them to the Rohingya.

Major Mehedi said a RAB team raided the area on Friday afternoon after learning that some arms dealers were stationed in the deep hills adjacent to the Rohingya camp in Palangkhali. At one point, two people were arrested on a hill called Madhurchhara. Two homemade pistols, two bullets and various weapons-making equipment were later recovered from a makeshift house where they were parked.

The RAB official said the detainees used to come from Maheshkhali and stay in the deep mountainous areas of Palangkhali to make weapons and supply them to the Rohingya. They have been making this weapon for a long time. There are several Rohingya camps on both sides of the expedition site.
