The kidnappers stabbed his brother after failing to kidnap the bride from a wedding ceremony in Bogra’s Dhunat upazila. At that time, the people from the bridal house chased and arrested the two kidnappers and handed them over to the police.
The incident took place around 4 pm on Friday (October 2) in the village of Jorshimul in the union of the Chikashi upazila.
Those arrested were identified as Imran Hossain Talukder, 32, the son of Imdadul Haque from the Rahimabad area of Shahjahanpur upazila de Bogra and Sadman Alim, 25, the son of Abdul Sekhar from the same village.
Mehedi Hasan Sabuj, 29, the son of Shahjahan Ali from Jorshimul village in Dhunat upazila was stabbed by the kidnappers. Cousin of the injured green bride.
According to local sources, 25-year-old Samiul Mannan, son of Abdul Asher from Latifpur area of Shahjahanpur upazila, was married to Sumita Khatun, daughter of Khabir Uddin from Jorshimul village in upazila on Friday noon. The wedding was held at home. At that moment Imran and Sadman went to the couple’s house and tried to kidnap Sumita’s girlfriend. When his cousin Mehedi Hasan Sabuj tried to arrest him, the kidnappers stabbed him and tried to escape.
Later, the people from the wedding house chased and arrested the kidnappers Imran and Sadman Ali and handed them over to the police. The injured Mehedi Hasan was admitted first to the Dhunat Upazila Health Complex and then to the Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical University Hospital in Bogra.
Detainee Imran Hossain Talukder said: “I had a love affair with the girlfriend for about a year.” Upon hearing the news of his marriage, I came to the wedding house to visit him. But the people in the marriage house got angry and started beating us. The girl’s brother was injured in the scuffle while fleeing from them.
Dhunat Police Officer in Charge (CO) Kripa Sindhu Bala said that two people were arrested at the scene after receiving the information. The treatment of the injured person has been investigated. After the marriage, the bride has gone to her husband’s house. A case is being prepared at the police station.
