Opposing the plan to relocate the Rohingya to Bhasanchar, Mirza Fakhrul said: “It was reported in a newspaper that a town has been established in Bhasanchar to house the refugees permanently. In other words, the government is probably confirming that the Rohingya will stay here permanently.
“Keeping them permanently is not for the welfare of the people of Bangladesh. In a few days we will realize the great problem that this represents for the people of Bangladesh. We believe it is an international conspiracy. ”
Asking the government for ‘national unity’ to resolve the crisis, the BNP general secretary said: “We ask the government to restore the voting rights of the people on the basis of national consensus, establish democracy and restore the confidence and acceptance of the country. in the outside world. “
Fakhrul also warned that if the Rohingya crisis is not brought to the UN as a “priority,” it will lead to “catastrophe” in Bangladesh.
The Foreign Ministry summoned the country’s ambassador to Dhaka on the news of Myanmar’s military concentration on the border with Bangladesh last September.
Expressing concern about the issue, the BNP secretary general called on the government to take “interregional diplomatic” initiatives.
