Minnie was taken to Barguna Police Lines from her father’s home on July 17 of last year, 20 days after the murder. After questioning, the police arrested Minni the same night he appeared to be involved in the murder. Minnie was brought before the Barguna Magistrates Court on July 18 last year and was detained for seven days for questioning. After the hearing, the court granted Minni a five-day preventive detention. Later, on July 20 last year, on the third day of her five-day pre-trial detention, Minni made a confessional statement under section 164 in the same court, admitting her involvement in the Rifat murder. Later, Judge Mohammad Sirajul Islam Gazi ordered that he be sent to jail.

After 49 days in jail, Minni was released on bail from Barguna jail on September 3 last year on the condition that he not speak to the media. She has been in the custody of her father Mozammel Hossain Kishore since she was released on bail.
