The heretical father has sold the child without demanding the money from the hospital bill during the delivery. Police rescued the baby’s mother when she attempted suicide. Subsequently, the police returned the sold child to the mother’s lap.
The incident took place in the Sapmari area of Sadar upazila in Sherpur on Wednesday (September 30). The girl’s father, Sultan, was taken to the police station for questioning. According to the police and the locals, Sultan is the son of Nazim Uddin from Sapmari village.
Despite having two wives, he married Suma Akhter, daughter of Abdul Aziz from the Mauna area of Gazipur district and brought her home two years ago. Suma gave birth to a son by caesarean section at Sherpur District Hospital on July 25. Husband Sultan spent 22,000 rupees for Caesar. He later demanded César’s money from his wife Suma, threatening to sell the baby if she didn’t pay. He later sold the baby to Shafiq, son of Kaptul Mandal from the Kanashakhola area, for Taka 91,000. However, Shafiq claims that he did not buy the boy but adopted him to raise him because he had no children.
After confirming the investigation, the boy’s mother, Suma Akhter, went to Shafiq’s home Wednesday afternoon in search of her son. At that time, Shafiq told Suma to leave because the boy was not at home. She later attempted suicide by consuming urea fertilizer at the local market in Kanashakhola.
Upon seeing the matter, the locals informed the police. The police rescued Suma and her sold son from there and admitted her to the hospital.
Said the additional Police Superintendent (Headquarters Circle). Aminul Islam said that after receiving the news, the boy was rescued and returned to his mother’s lap. The girl’s father, Sultan, was taken to the police station for questioning. In this case legal action will be taken.
