Three people, including former PP AKM Saiful Islam, joint chief coordinator of the BNP district, have been barred from challenging the Bogra Advocates Bar Association for embezzlement of association funds for life. The embezzlement and financial loss were ordered to be paid within the next week and membership was suspended for a week.
The decision was announced after the association’s general meeting on Wednesday night. Lawyer Golam Farooq, president of the Bar Association, confirmed the truth.
The other two defendants are former Awami League-backed president, attorney Lutfe Ghalib Al Zahid Mridul, and former BNP-Jamaat-backed attorney general Mozammel Haque.
According to reliable sources from the Bogra Advocates Bar Association, AKM Saiful Islam, senior joint convenor of the district BNP, was the association’s general secretary in 2016. During this time he carried out various urbanization works including construction of tin tent at the entrance in front of the bar building, drainage slab, electrical work in the library, purchase of cement, double power line connection. Although the purchase of the electrical transformer was shown, Nesco received no money in return. He was then charged with embezzlement of five lakh 26,522 rupees.
Various disciplinary measures were taken against him at the general meeting, including abstention from fulfilling his duties. The investigation committee and the audit team found the allegations to be true.
On the other hand, Lutfe Ghalib Al Zahid Mridul was the chair of the Awami League-backed panel in 2017 and Mozammel Haque was the general secretary of the Jamaat-BNP-backed panel. At that time, they saved a large amount of money in the Bank Asia of their choice outside of the association’s decision. The low interest deposit caused a loss of one lakh and three thousand rupees to the association.

Lawyer Mozammel Haque said illegal decisions have been made against him. They will appeal in this regard soon.
