Dhaka: A day of state mourning has been declared for the death of Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of Kuwait, a true friend of Bangladesh.

The one-day mourning will be observed in Bangladesh on Thursday (October 1), the cabinet department said.

On Wednesday (September 30), the cabinet department said in a circular that the national flag would fly at half-staff at all government and private buildings, including educational institutions, and at Bangladeshi missions abroad.

Special prayers will be held in all mosques in Bangladesh on October 1 for the forgiveness of the soul of Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. In other religious institutions special prayers for the peace of your soul will be organized.

The Kuwaiti emir died in an American hospital on Tuesday (September 29) at around 8 p.m. Bangladesh time.
