The funeral of the late Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Sabah, has been completed. He was buried in the Sulaibikhat Cemetery, Kuwait’s main cemetery on Wednesday. Close relatives attended the funeral.
The janaza of Amir Sheikh Sabah Ahmad Al-Sabah was offered at the Bilal Bin Rabah mosque before the body was taken away for burial.
Earlier, Sheikh Sabah’s body arrived in the country on a Kuwait Airways flight from the United States. At the airport, his brother and new emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabeh and several other officials and security forces received the body.
According to the state Kuna news agency, several roads in the capital were closed from 2:00 p.m. to bring the body of the late Amir to the janaza mosque.
Amir’s body was buried in the cemetery only in the presence of relatives. However, Amir’s grave will be open to the public on Thursday.
The Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, died on September 29 in a US hospital. He was 91 years old at the time of his death.
