One hanged for killing schoolboy Bappi, five sentenced to life imprisonment

BT-NewMofizul Islam Bappi, 18, a student at Khalishpur Platinum Jubilee Jute Mill School in Khulna, has been sentenced to death by hanging. Five others have been sentenced to life imprisonment. APP advocate Kazi Sabbir Ahmed from the court said: “On October 10, 2010 at 7pm, schoolboy Bappi and his friend Raju were sitting together talking on the Platinum School grounds. At that time, due to the previous enmity, the accused came to kill his friend Raju with a hockey stick and an iron bar. To save his friend Raju, the defendant hit Bappi on the head with a hockey stick. Bappi fell to the ground. At that moment, friend Raju ran away. Then the defendant started hitting him randomly. The locals rescued him in critical condition and took him to Khulna Medical College Hospital. Maryland. Ismail Sheikh and Dr. Bappi victim testified before Sahadev Kumar Das. Bappi died at 11:05 pm that day. The next day, the older brother of the late Hafizur Rahman filed a murder case at the Khalishpur Police Station. Subsequently, on March 31, 2012, the Khalishpur police filed a charge sheet against the accused. The indictment in the murder case was filed on January 2, 2014. During the hearing, 16 of the 16 people testified in court in the murder case. In the court of then Metropolitan Magistrate S Mohammad Ali, defendants Rocky and Nazrul admitted their involvement in the murder and described the involvement of other defendants.

APP defenders Kazi Sabbir Ahmed, Shamim Ahmed Palash and Rehana Parveen represented the state and defenders of Niranjan Kumar Ghosh, Shafiqur Rahman and Syed Khalid Hossain brought the case on behalf of the defendants.
