The trial of 10 adults accused in the Rifat murder case will take place on Wednesday. District Judge and Barguna Sessions. Ashaduzzaman will announce the verdict in the case.
Of the 24 people charged by the police after the killings that stunned Bangladesh 15 months ago, 10 are on trial. As the remaining 14 are minors, their trial takes place separately in the Barguna Juvenile Court.
The number one defendant in the case is Rakibul Hasan alias Rifat Faraji (23), Vaira’s son of the chairman of the Barguna district council, Delwar Hossain. Minni, 19, the wife of the late Rifat, was the seventh defendant on the charge sheet, whose name was the number one witness in the case.
The other eight defendants are Al Qayyum alias Rabbi Akon (21), Mohaiminul Islam Sifat (19), Rezwan Ali Khan Hridoy alias Tiktak Hridoy (22), Hasan (19), Musa (22) and Rafiul Islam Rabbi (20) . Sagar (19) and Kamrul Hasan Saimun (21).

Rifat’s father, Abdul Halim Dulal Sharif, told bdnews24.com: “We want to punish all the accused, including Minni.” We have confidence in the judiciary of the country. The court should punish those involved in Rifat’s murder in such a way that we get relief.
“No one can cross committing a crime. No one is above the law, let this be the proof. Let the State judge and inform the people with exemplary punishment, nobody can survive committing a crime ”.
Rifat’s mother, Daisy Akhter, has demanded the execution of all the accused.
“I want all the accused hanged,” he said. These heinous murders should never happen again. No other mother’s chest like mine should be empty. “

He said, “We are two brothers and sisters. The brother was a miner. Brother was my courage and confidence. Today we are destitute after losing our brother. I will never get my brother back.
“If all murderers, including Minni, receive exemplary punishment, we will achieve some peace. The soul of the brother will also have peace. I want exemplary justice for the murderers of my brother.”
Rifat’s friend Manjurul Alam Jan said he has not been able to sleep well for the past year.
He said: “Rifat’s face came out as soon as he closed his eyes. I went to Barisal with Rifat. In the emaciated body I saw Rifat’s longing for survival. But I couldn’t save. I want the maximum punishment for all the accused ”.
Lawyer Anisur Rahman, chairman of the Barguna Civil Rights Protection Committee, demanded exemplary punishment for the accused.
On the other hand, Rifat’s wife, Minni, is being acquitted by her parents. Minni is the eighth defendant on the charge sheet, whose name was the number one witness in the case. He was later charged after a police investigation.
Minni’s father, Mozammel Hossain Kishore, said: “We really are victims of harassment. At the risk of her life, Minni did everything she could to save her husband, but failed. But Minni is now in the dock of the main witness. It is very sad.
“We hope Minnie is acquitted.”
Minni’s lawyer, Mahbubul Bari Aslam, has the same expectation.
He said: “The prosecution has not refuted the argument made by Minni’s attorneys in court. Our attorneys have been able to convince the court that Minni is innocent. Respecting the law, I say that Minni will be acquitted of this case.
“According to the investigation report on the case, Minni was not present at the meeting on the assassination plot at the university’s Shaheed Minar in the presence of Minni. Minni took the wounded Rifat to the hospital. But that matter is nowhere in the the police charge sheet. The police took Minni’s blood-stained clothing to the hospital but did not present it to the court. However, it has been said that Minni’s clothing has been confiscated from Nayan Bond’s home and is listed The seizure is signed by Nayana Bond’s mother, Shahida Khatun. But the clothes recovered in this case have not been proven by Minni. Nayan Bond’s mother was not declared a witness in the case. “
Attorney Aslam added: “If someone plans to kill someone, they are never going to save them. The way Minni went to Ramdar and tried to save her husband and then took Rifat to the hospital shows that Minni is innocent. Minni is not involved in the murder in any way. We believe that we have been able to convince the court. So I hope Minni is acquitted. “
