The RAB arrested Tarekul Islam Tareq, the second defendant in the gang rape case in the dormitory of MC College in Sylhet (Murarichand).
The defendant Tareq is the son of Rafiqul Islam from Umednagar in Sunamganj Sadar upazila.

A RAB-9 team arrested him in Sunamganj’s Dirai upazila on Tuesday night.
Police and the RAB arrested 7 people, including 8 defendants in the sensational case.
Last Friday, a young woman was gang-raped while visiting the MC College campus. After beating her husband, some leaders and activists from the Chhatra League university branch took her to the dormitory.
When the husband followed them to save his wife, BCL leaders and activists tied her up and gang-raped her.
Later, around 10:30 pm, the police rescued the raped girl and her husband from the university dormitory area and admitted them to the Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.
The next day, a case was brought against 9 BCL leaders and activists for the incident.
They are; MC College BCL leader Shah Mahbubur Rahman Rani, a student from the Department of English Masters, BCL leader Mahfuzur Rahman Mashum studying in the same class, BCL activists M Saifur Rahman, Arjun Laskar and foreign leaders from BCL Rabiul and Tareq.
Six people have been accused of being directly involved in the case. Charges of cooperation were brought against 3 other people.
So far, eight people have been arrested in connection with the gang rape. The school authorities have also suspended two porters from the school.
