Father accused of raping a teenage girl

Father Pradeep Gyagari, 50, has been accused of raping a 15-year-old tribal girl in Rajshahi’s Tanore upazila. The girl was rescued from the Sadhujan Mary Vianni church in the Mundumala Mahalipara area of ​​upazila on Tuesday night.

The victim, a teenager from the indigenous Christian community, disappeared while mowing the lawn next to a church last Saturday morning. After much searching, his brother made a general diary (GD) at the police station the next day, without finding him. The next day, Monday afternoon, the missing teenager was found to be a captive in Father Pradeep’s church home. Later, relatives of the girl and people from the area rescued the girl.

Then, in the evening, an arbitration meeting was held inside the church. Father Pradeep was removed from the church after being found guilty there. The victim stayed with the sisters inside the church. It was also said that if the missing GD is removed from the police station, the girl will be sent to his family. In addition, the church authorities will bear the cost of the adolescent to adulthood.

This afternoon, the girl’s brother went to the police station and said that his sister had been found. But he will not return to his family. He was detained by Father Patrick Gómez, head of the church, and Kamel Mardi, head of the arbitration meeting.

Tanore Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sushant Kumar Mahato and Police Officer in Charge (CO) Rakibul Hasan rescued the girl from the church at night.

OC Rakibul Hasan said that the girl’s brother had filed a case at the police station. The accused church father has been a fugitive since the arbitration meeting. An attempt is being made to arrest him.
