A 15-year-old girl from a tribe was arrested and raped in a church in Tanore, Rajshahi. The incident took place at the Saint John Mary Vianni church in Mundmala Mahalipara de la upazila. The guilty finger is on Father Pradeep Gagri of that church. Church authorities fired him Tuesday in connection with the incident.

Two days after the disappearance, news came on September 26 that the father had kept the girl in his room inside the church. An arbitration meeting was held in the church led by Kamel Mardi, principal of the Moral and Mundumala government high schools.
Father Preep Gagry confessed to raping the girl while she was there. Later, the community leaders took him out of there and brought him to Rajshahi.
Kamel Mardi confirmed the matter. “I don’t know if the girl was taken there voluntarily or by force,” he said. It is unknown at this time what she will do after leaving office.
