The Emir of Kuwait, Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al Sabah (Innalillahi wa inna ilahi rajiun) has died. He died in an American hospital on Tuesday. He was 91 years old. Khabar Al Jazeera.
Since 2007, Sheikh Sabah has been the Emir of Kuwait, an oil-rich country in the Arabian Gulf. He suffered from various physical complications for a long time. The appendix was removed in 2002 by the Emir of Kuwait. Two years later a pacemaker was transplanted into the heart. Sheikh Sabah underwent urethral surgery at a US hospital in 2006.
He was admitted to the hospital once in 2019. Al-Sabah later interrupted his visit to the United States due to illness. He even pulled out of President Donald Trump’s meeting schedule.
Sheikh Sabah returned to the United States in July this year for treatment due to physical complications. In his absence, his half brother, Crown Prince Sheikh Nawf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, took over the state.
Born in 1929, Sheikh Sabah is considered the architect of modern Kuwait. He served as the country’s foreign minister for about 40 years, from 1983 to 2003. The then-respected leader became Prime Minister of Kuwait.
After the death of Sheikh Jaber al-Sabah in 2006, Sheikh Sabah became the emir of the oil-rich Arab Gulf country. The emir of Kuwait has called on both sides to calm down as tensions between the United States and Iran reach a climax in the Arabian Gulf.
