India is buying Rs 2,290 million worth of military weapons, including assault rifles, from the United States amid border disputes with China and Pakistan.
According to the Hindustan Times, the Indian Union Ministry of Defense approved the purchase of various types of weapons from the United States to strengthen the military.
It has been decided to purchase 72,000 Sig Saw assault rifles from the United States for Rs 60 million. Previously, there was a shortage of assault rifles in the Indian Army arsenal in the first phase of the fast track purchase agreement.
India bought 62,400 Sig Saar rifles to rally.
In addition to assault rifles, anti-aircraft weapons worth 960 million rupees are being purchased, further strengthening the country’s air force and navy.
In addition, sophisticated radios are being bought. Which will create a secure communication system during the war. It will cost Rs 540 crore.
The Hindustan Times also reported that the Indian military has gradually abandoned the Insas rifle and turned to the use of sophisticated Sig Saar rifles. The security forces need around eight lakhs of assault rifles. These will be purchased in a few steps.
