Intense fighting is taking place between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Turkey is said to have already sent 4,000 fighters to Azerbaijan.

Ankara sent these fighters from northern Syria to Azerbaijan.

Interfax and the RIA news agency summoned Armenia’s ambassador to Russia, Vardan Toganian, on Tuesday.

The ambassador said that the fighters were fighting in the Nagorno-Karabakh region with the support of Azerbaijan.

However, Armenia has denied the information. They say it is a provocation on the part of the Armenian side and complete nonsense.

Meanwhile, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his support for Azerbaijan on Sunday. It says that Armenia is the greatest threat to peace in the region.

Meanwhile, Russia, which has military bases in Armenia, has called for an immediate ceasefire.

Clashes between the two neighboring countries over the disputed Nagorna-Karabakh region resumed.

The region is internationally recognized as part of Azerbaijan. But ethnically it is run by Armenians.

Both Armenia and Azerbaijan have already declared martial law in some areas. Azerbaijan has made the final threat to Armenia. The military forces of the two countries are using heavy weapons. 31 soldiers are said to have died on both sides.

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said both sides had deployed heavy artillery. Armenian forces have opened fire on the Azerbaijani city of Terta.

In early 2016, there was a confrontation between the two countries. At that time 200 people died. After a long time, the fighting started again. Source: Al Jazeera, BBC
