Dhaka: Regent Group and the president of the hospital have been sentenced to life in prison in the weapons case. Shahid. Observing the verdict, the court said: “This verdict is a message to decent criminals like Saheed in our society.”

Shortly before the verdict was announced at around 2 p.m. Monday (September 26), Shahed was brought into the courtroom. Judge KM Imrul Kayesh of Dhaka Metropolitan Special Court No. 1 began reading the verdict. At first, the judge read the summary of the statements of 11 of the 14 witnesses.

Citing the plaintiff’s statement in the case, the court said that while the defendant was in custody in the drug case, according to his confession, weapons and ammunition were recovered from under the back seat of an abandoned vehicle in Sonargaon Janpath, Sector 11, Uttara. Witnesses on the seizure list also said weapons were recovered from the vehicle.

Later, the investigation officer came up with the investigation and Shahed bought the car on installment. He was so cunning that despite knowing the weapon, he never admitted it to court during the trial. The defendant’s attorney said that the weapon was not owned by Saheed and that he did not know it. The vehicle from which the weapon was recovered was not Shahid’s, it was abandoned. ‘

However, the investigation showed that Shahid had bought the car in installments and that the weapons were recovered by unlocking the locked car with the keys they provided. So it turns out that he knew about the gun and it was recovered from the car he had. So here the question of knowing and owning your weapon is tested. Also, this defendant is so smart that he has never admitted the property issue in court. So you can’t get any sympathy here.

Observing the latest verdict, the court said: “This verdict will serve as a message to decent criminals like Saheed in our society.”

Later, the court announced the sentence against Shahid. In this case, Shahed was sentenced to life imprisonment under section 19 (a) of the Gun Act of 18 and seven years imprisonment under section (f).

The verdict also mentioned that the two sentences will be executed together. They were also asked to take the next step after verifying ownership of the vehicle from which the weapon was recovered and impounded.

The verdict was set on September 20 after the same court presented the arguments of the State and the accused.
