Dhaka: National digital land zoning is taking place on all mountainous lands and parcel-based countries. Mouza and a digital plot-based land zoning map for rural areas will be prepared by dividing the land into plots for agriculture, housing, forestry, commercial and industrial watershed development, tourism, etc. according to the quality of the land.

The purpose of this project is to establish a centralized computerized land data storage system to facilitate decision-making on land management at the field level. Initially, the cost of the project was estimated at Tk 448.40 crore. The project will be executed with full government funding. Now, the cost of the project is reduced to Tk 338.70 crore. As a result, the project will save Tk 110 crore. 57,349 muzas from 4,582 unions in 493 upazilas in 64 districts of the country are under this project. The project will be implemented from now until June 2024.

The project will be presented to the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) for its final approval.

The project will be presented at the ECNEC meeting on Tuesday (September 29). ECNEC Prime Minister and President Sheikh Hasina will chair the ECNEC meeting from Ganobhaban.

Zakir Hossain Akand, member (secretary) of the Department of Agriculture, Water and Rural Institutions Planning Commission, told banglanews: The project will be presented at the ECNEC meeting on Tuesday. A separate unit will be established under the Ministry of Lands to keep land zoning activities active. ‘

About 74 percent of the total agricultural land in Bangladesh. But now the earth is decaying. To implement the Land Use Policy-2001, the Ministry of Lands has implemented the Coastal Land Zoning Project for the period 2006-2011. Through which land-use and land-use planning plans have been drawn up in 152 coastal upazilas. In the second phase, zoning and land use planning and maps have been prepared in 338 upazilas of the country. A national project for digital land zoning based on mozas and parcels has now been undertaken for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and the Delta-2100 Plan. A total of 1 lakh 37,412 mouza maps will be made.

1 lakh 36,412 sheets of mouza maps will be collected under the project. 1 lakh 37 thousand 412 mouzas database will be collected. In addition to this, the digitization of seats of the mouza map and the mouza matching will be performed. Under the project, four high-resolution scanners and the land use survey sector will cost Tk 30 crore. Satellite images will be collected under the project at a cost of Tk 75 crore.
