Chittagong: Nurul Abshar from Paienen South Para was a boatman in 2000. He used to make a living driving a boat.

But her luck changed after meeting Zafar, a yaba merchant on the other side of the river.

Nurul Abshar used to transport Jafar’s yaba by boat. There was a time when he started collecting foreign liquor from ships and selling it. Abshar used to sell his drugs through Anwara, in the Karnafuli area. Nurul Abshar kept yaba merchant Jafar’s yaba empire after he was killed in a shootout with the RAB in 2015. It has been bloated ever since. He also took over the Awami League in exchange for money overnight. He became a member of the Central Subcommittee on Religious Affairs of the Awami League. Nurul Abshar was permanently removed from office on January 31, 2019 after finding evidence of involvement in drug trafficking.

Although he was the godfather of drugs in the Panemos area, he was always out of reach. In 2016, police in Paienen arrested Nurul Abshar with 40 bottles of foreign liquor, but later released him from jail and brought a case against him for harassing police officers. The Anti-Corruption Commission investigated the case by order of the court.

Nurul Abshar’s case turned out to be false in the ACC investigation. The ACC report claims that Nurul Abshar is involved in the drug business. Subsequently, the ACC filed a lawsuit against Nurul Abshar for making false accusations.

The family claims that Abshar is a drug dealer.

On November 1, 2016, the police arrested a young man named Adil Khan along with 700 pieces of yaba. Nurul Abshar’s name is on the statement in that case. Adil Khan then informed the police that he was collecting yaba from Nurul Abshar and selling it to another person named Raju.

But even though Nurul Abshar had a private car, it was not shown in the affidavit. In addition, family sources said that he has assets anonymously.
