A court has placed Monwar Hossain alias Sajeeb, 43, and his accomplice Mashnu Ara Begum, alias Shilpi, 40, in custody for two days for raping a woman while collecting blood for her dying husband. The order was issued by Dhaka Devdas Metropolitan Magistrate Chandra Adhikari on Sunday.
Omedar Mohammad Sarwar, of the court’s general registration branch, confirmed the matter to NTV Online. He said that Mirpur Model Police Station (SI) Deputy Inspector Tapan Kumar Biswas, the investigating officer in the case, appeared before the Dhaka Metropolitan Chief Magistrates Court today and detained the accused for seven days. Following the request, the judge granted preventive detention for two days.
Earlier, a special RAB 2 team arrested the two at a flat called Shifa Villa in Manipuripara in Mirpur, the capital, at 8pm on Friday.
The RAB-2 (CPC-2) Commander-in-Chief, Major MM Parvez Arefin, told NTV Online that the mother of the accused Monwar Hossain Sajib and the husband of the complainant housewife were receiving treatment at Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital. . The doctor reported that the husband of the victim’s housewife needed positive ‘O’ blood. Later, the housewife went to the blood bank on the ground floor of the hospital in search of blood. The rapist Sajib was sitting there.
According to the RAB official, Sajib asked the housewife to come to the Quantum Foundation office in Malibag, as there was no blood in the blood bank. But the housewife told Sajib that she did not know Malibag. Later, Sajib told him, “I will take you to Malibagh on the morning of September 18.” In the morning, the two left for Quantum in Malibag. But since there was no blood, Quantum told him to put down the money. If money is given, blood will be available the next day.
Said Major MM Parvez Arefin, but the housewife left without depositing money in Quantum due to the immediate need for blood. Later, they departed for Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital in a GNC autorickshaw. After leaving, they reached Farmgate. After arriving there, Monwar Hossain Sajib told the housewife: ‘I have a sister in Manipur, Mirpur. If she goes there, there may be a blood supply. ‘ Later they both went to Manipur. At that time Sajib asked him to get up in a house. But the housewife did not agree. The housewife was later forcibly taken to the home of another accused artist. The artist then went to the kitchen to give them breakfast. At that time Sajib closed the door of the house and raped the housewife. After the rape, he threatened to kill her so that she would not tell anyone about the incident. Later they went to the hospital. She did not tell anyone about the incident because the housewife’s husband was very ill. Later, the housewife handled the blood in another way. But blood is needed again. This fact can be found alive. Later, on September 24, Sajib informed the housewife that he would administer the blood again. Later, the housewife informed her husband about the incident. Then, on September 25, her husband complained to the RAB. That night, the RAB arrested Sajib and her sister at the sister’s home in Manipur. Sajib has admitted the entire incident after his arrest.
