In a separate message of condolence, they conveyed their condolences to the grieving family and said that the nation will respect Mahbubey Alam’s contribution in the field of law.
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam died at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka on Sunday night. He was the state’s legal director for the longest time in the history of Bangladesh.
He served as Attorney General until his death in 2009. The ex-officio chairman of the Bangladesh Bar Council.
Referring to his 28-year long relationship with Mahbubey Alam, the Chief Justice said in his message of condolence: “The Attorney General of Bangladesh, Mahbubey Alam, has performed his duties with the utmost honesty and sincerity. As a lawyer he was universally respected. He was a man of great virtue, generosity, and lack of love.
“His contribution to the rule of law and justice is undeniable. The nation will respectfully remember his contribution in the field of law. His death has created an irreplaceable void in the legal field.”
Highlighting her 40-year long personal and professional relationship with Mahbubey Alam, Law Minister Anisul Haque said in her condolence message: “Mahbubey Alam will always be remembered by the people of the country for his actions. The death of Mahbubey Alam has created a great vacuum in the legal sphere of the country ”.
