Awami League candidate Nuruzzaman Biswas won the Pabna-4 by-elections

Awami League candidate Nuruzzaman Biswas won the Pabna-4 constituency by-election (Ishwardi-Atghoria) of Jatiya Sangsad by garnering 239,924 votes with the ship symbol. His closest rival, Habibur Rahman Habib, an advisor to the president of BNP and convenor of the Pabna district BNP, obtained 5,058 votes.

In addition, the candidate of the Jatiya Party, Rezaul Karim Khokon, obtained 3,084 votes. Voting took place non-stop from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at a total of 129 centers in Ishwardi and 45 in Atghoria. The total number of voters in the two upazilas was 3 lakh 61,112 people.

The freedom fighter Nuruzzaman Biswas thanked the people of Ishwardi and Atghoria in a short reply after receiving the result of the victory and said: “Once again the victory of the pro-liberation forces has been achieved here.”

The Awami League Central Organizing Secretary and Elections Coordinator, SM Kamal Hossain, congratulated the people of Ishwardi and Atghoria on the victory of the ship’s candidate. He said the government will continue to make progress in this area. He also thanked the journalists working in print and electronic media in the area.
