A 13-year-old girl committed suicide in Chapainawabganj after she was fined Taka 72,000 for raping her. The girl committed suicide by poisoning on Friday.
According to locals, Basir, the son of Touhidul Islam from Dwariyapur Mahajanpara in the municipal area, broke into his fifth-degree cousin’s home and raped her on Monday. At the girl’s cry, the girl’s mother closed the door.
While in custody, the rapist Basir’s father, Touhidul, promised to marry his son to the girl. Later on Wednesday, Matiur Rahman Mutton Mia, Councilor for District No. 4 of Chapainawabganj Township, sat in arbitration with both parties in her own home. In the arbitration held in the absence of the rapist Basir, the rapist Basir was fined 72,000 taka.
Unable to accept the matter, the girl was poisoned on Friday morning. His relatives admitted him to the Chapainawabganj Modern Sadar Hospital. The girl died in the hospital around 4 in the afternoon.
The family of the deceased complained that they could not accept the solution of the violation for Tk 72,000 and the arbitrator informed them of the trial. Not only that; Although it was settled at Tk 72,000, Counselor Matiur Rahman Mutton Mia paid Tk 70,000 to our family and kept the remaining Tk 12,000.
When Matiur Rahman Mutton Mia, a member of Chapainawabganj Township District 4, was called to discuss the matter, they found her mobile phone turned off.
The Chapainawabganj Sadar OC Mozaffar Hossain model police station said a case has been filed on behalf of the family under the Women’s Abuse Act. Necessary action will be taken after investigating the matter.
