A woman has been raped while collecting blood for her dying husband. The woman was raped on September 16. The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the rapist and her accomplice in a house in central Manipur on Friday night. The detainees are Monwar Hossain alias Sajib (43) and his accomplice Mashnu Ara Begum alias Shilpi (40).
RAB-2 ASP said. Abdullah Al Mamun said that on the afternoon of September 15, the victim was admitted to Suhrawardy Hospital in Dhaka with her ailing husband. The attending physician advised the husband to donate blood and to organize blood transfusions urgently. Victim Suhrawardy went to the front of the blood bank on the second floor of the hospital and saw 3/4 men sitting there. The next day at noon, in the name of fixing the blood, he took her to Mashnu Ara Begum’s home in Shifa Villa in central Manipur Para, below the Mirpur police station. Monwar Hossain raped the woman with the help of Mashnu Ara Begum. When the victim screamed, he strangled her and threatened to kill her. The victim kept the rape a secret for fear of public embarrassment and her husband’s illness. Last Thursday night, the defendant called the victim’s husband’s mobile phone and sent his wife to the second floor of Suhrawardy Hospital. The victim then told her husband about the rape for fear of being raped again. They then complained to the RAB-2 commander and the initial truth of the incident was discovered. In this context, an RAB-2 team raided floor number C on the right side of the third floor stairs of Shifa Villa in Madhya Manipur on Friday night and arrested them.
During preliminary questioning, the arrested defendant Monwar Hossain confessed to raping the victim with the help of Mashnu Ara Begum. The defendant Monowar Hossain Sajib said that he had an illicit relationship with Mashnu Ara Begum.
