The MC College dorm was opened under whose direction?

Sylhet: Sylhet MC College was closed along with all educational institutions since March 16 due to the deadly corona virus. However, the dormitory was open even though the university was closed.

The question is now in all sectors. It has been alleged that foreign students used to live in the MC College dormitory under pressure from an Awami League leader. The school authorities were also aware of this. However, the university director says that due to the flooding, extremely poor students have been given a place to stay in the dormitory.

It is known that despite the campus being closed during the Corona period, some talented students associated with the college student league stayed in the dorm. The BCL cadres, who were divided between the two leaders of the Tilagarh-based Awami League, used to stay in the bedroom and commit various crimes, including kidnapping. And to save them from the hands of the administration, the leaders of the Awami League used to give them shelter.

According to the locals, the scoundrels called the Chhatra League, who stayed in the dormitory after night, would pick people up from the road and take them to the dormitory or MC’s camp and leave them with their mobiles and money.

According to the source, MC College authorities used to make arrangements for the stay of college students, including strangers in the dormitory, disobeying government instructions. However, a few days ago, a leader of the Tilagarh-based Awami League threatened Hostel Super and made arrangements for their stay, despite wanting to expel the students from the dormitory.

Despite government instructions, some BCL leaders and activists used to carry weapons in the MC College dormitory. And the university authorities had to keep their mouths shut after knowing everything. The defender from the Awami League Saifur Rahman and Rana from the Ranjit Group were said to lead them. Police recovered weapons from Saifur Rahman’s room after the incident.

Apart from the leaders and workers of the foreign student league, the general students from different departments of the university also lived in the dormitory. Although the matter was known to the school authorities, the authorities did not take any action on it.

In this regard, the director of Sylhet MC College, Professor Saleh Ahmed, told banglanews that the university and dormitory were closed on March 18 due to the situation in Corona. However, many students in the flood-affected Sunamganj area took refuge in dormitories for work and tuition. The university authorities also gave them space for humanitarian reasons. However, no leader threatened to stay. You can give even if you threaten the super hostel.

He said, 4/5 students have been coming and going to the hostel since Eid. But in order not to stay in the bedroom, I kept the bedroom dining room closed, as well as the gas connection.

The director added that the dormitory has 6 blocks and a 4-story building on the east side. There were about 300 students. After the closure of the universities and dormitories, considering the humanitarian aspect, about 20-30 people were verbally asked to stay in the dormitories. The shelter superintendent would check to see if there was a stranger or if the college students were following directions. Several rooms in the dormitory were searched and locked by police on Friday.

As for taking up arms in the dormitory, the director of the university said: “I am investigating the matter.” For this, a 3-member committee has been formed. In this case, action will be taken if someone is found negligent.

Sylhet Metropolitan Police (Media) Deputy Police Commissioner Jyortimay Sarkar said police have been deployed to the dormitory to prevent adverse incidents. At the same time, the students leave the dormitory following the instructions of the university authorities. However, so far no arrests have been made.

On Friday (September 25), a housewife was allegedly gang-raped by six BCL leaders and activists while her husband was detained in the MC College dormitory. Upon receiving the news, police rescued the couple from the bedroom at around 10:30 pm. Later, the raped girl was admitted to the OCC Center of the Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.

The rapist’s husband filed a case with the Shahparán police station on Saturday morning, naming six people and charging two or three others.

Shahporan (SI) Police Deputy Inspector Milton Sarkar also presented a separate case regarding the seizure of weapons. He filed a case against Chhatra League cadre Saifur Rahman.
