SP Mohammad Hasanuzzaman, a newcomer to Cox’s Bazar, said the SI, ASI and the district police sheriff had ordered the transfer of 1,309 people on Friday. Previously, 46 additional SPs, police superintendents and police inspectors were transferred. The warrant has been issued through separate notifications from the Chittagong Police Headquarters and Police. He said that transfer orders will also be issued to those who remain in phases.
Chittagong Range DIG Mohammad Anwar Hossain said the Cox’s Bazar district police were being redesigned. And for this, everyone from the senior officer to the bailiff will be transferred to Cox’s Bazar.
According to police sources from the Cox’s Bazar district, the number of transfers as of yesterday was 1,345. Among them are SP, eight senior officers, including the Additional Superintendent of Police, 34 inspectors including OCs from eight police stations, 156 Deputy Inspectors (SI), 92 Assistant Deputy Inspectors (ASI), 1,055 Naiks and Agents. Everyone is being transferred to a different rank outside of Chittagong’s rank. On Thursday 34 inspectors were transferred, including the CO.
According to police sources, 36 police inspectors, 75 SI-ASI and 634 officers, including COs from eight police stations, joined the Chittagong Range DIG office yesterday to fill the vacancies. An entirely new workforce will join the Cox’s Bazar District Police by September 30. On September 16, Cox’s Bazar SP ABM Masud Hossain was transferred as Rajshahi SP. Jhenaidah SP Mohammad Hasanuzzaman was placed in charge of the Cox’s Bazar district police. He took over on Wednesday. On Thursday, SP Masud Hossain left Cox’s Bazar. On September 21, the Additional Police Superintendent, the Assistant Police Superintendent, and seven other senior officials were transferred.
