The son was arrested for killing his mother and burning her body

The police arrested her son Akash Pandey (18) in Gopalganj on charges of killing his mother and falsifying evidence. A police team led by Gopalganj (Sadar Circle) Additional Police Superintendent Mohammad Chanowar Hossain raided Radhaganj, Kalikabari and Bhangarhat in Kotalipara upazila on Thursday and arrested him. Akash Pandey is the son of Manoranjan Pandey from Kalikabari village in Radhaganj junction of Kotalipara upazila. He is a ninth-class student from Bhangarhat Talimpur Telihati High School.

At the Gopalganj Superior Judicial Magistrate Humayun Kabir’s court at 5 pm on Friday, Akash Pandey confessed to killing his mother in a confessional statement.

After killing her mother in Akashpande, her body was burned to destroy the evidence, she told the court: “I want to go home at 10:30 pm on June 26 and eat rice.” At that time the younger sister was sleeping in the room. Baba was on duty as a night watchman at Bhangarhat Bazar. Mother Hasi Rani Pandey came to give me rice and suddenly she got angry and threw the plate. She kicked the pot of rice. At one point, when I was screaming, my mother came to attack me with a bat. I hit my mother on the back of the neck with firewood. The mother died. I am scared. Before that there was a heavy rain. Then there were no people around. The body was carried in the boat on her lap. I lowered the body from the boat to an elevated place half a kilometer from the house. Later, hiding from the house next door, we took jute, firewood and kerosene from our house and burned my mother’s body in the middle of the night. After cleaning my mother with embers, ashes, boats, and bathing, I returned home and fell asleep.

The victim’s mother, Hasi Rani Pandey (35), is the wife of Manoranjan Pandey from Kalikabari village in Radhaganj, Kotalipara upazila union of Gopalganj. The daughter of Juran Barai from the Kalagachhia village in Madaripur Sadar upazila.

Gopalganj (Sadar Circle) Additional Police Superintendent Mohammad Chhanwar Hossain said that Akash Pandey’s father, Manoranjan Pandey, 38, worked as a security guard at Bhangarhat Bazar. On the night of June 26, after the night watchman shift, Manoranjan returned home on the morning of June 26. When he couldn’t find his wife at home, he asked the children where their mother had gone. In response, the mother and uncle went home saying they were sons and daughters. Manoranjan searched his relatives’ home, including his father-in-law’s home, but could not find his wife.

The official further said that Manoranjan had filed a written complaint against four people, including his father-in-law and mother-in-law, at the Kotalipara police station on July 1. Later, in the same incident, Manoranjan presented a general newspaper (GD) at the Kotalipara police station on July 8. Kotalipara police were unable to investigate the incident. On September 24, the father-in-law filed a case against his son-in-law Manoranjan, his brother-in-law, his sister-in-law and his sister-in-law under the Dowry Law in the Gopalganj Women and Children Abuse Suppression Court. Investigating the case, police revealed on Thursday the murder mystery of housewife Hasi Rani Pandey. The police arrested Akash Pandey, son of Hasi Rani Pandey, the mastermind of the incident.
