Police have rescued a couple trapped in the MC College dorm in Sylhet. Shahparan police rescued them around 10:30 pm on Friday (September 25). The Officer-in-Charge (CO) of Shahparan Police Station, Kaiyum Chowdhury, confirmed the matter.
The OC said police were investigating why they were detained.
According to police sources, the couple went to visit Sylhet on Friday (September 25). Later in the evening, some BCL leaders and activists locked them in a bedroom room. MC College’s dorm is completely unprotected. For this reason, from the afternoon until late at night, in addition to the anagona of foreigners, many people use drugs there.
MC College shelter superintendent Jamal Uddin said: ‘I heard who kept the husband and wife in the shelter. Later the police came to rescue them. He did not agree to say anything more.
MC College principal Saleh Ahmed said: ‘The police are on the scene. They are investigating the matter. But to my knowledge, a couple has been detained in a shelter.
When contacted, Sylhet (South) Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Sohail Raza did not answer the phone.
