The academics have demanded a judicial investigation into the death of Allama Ahmad Shafi, the emir of Hefazat-e-Islam and former CEO of Darul Uloom Hathazari Madrasa.
They made the demand at a discussion and prayer meeting on the life and work of Allama Ahmad Shafi at the National Press Club on Friday afternoon. He also called the recent student protests in Hathazari Madrasa an external provocation and demanded justice for it.
Mufti Mohammad, Naib Amir of Hefazat-e-Islam and President of Jamiat-e-Ulama-e-Islam addressed the discussion as the main guest. Waqqas.
“I want to make it clear that the death of Allama Ahmad Shafi was not normal,” he said. I have no doubt: a force has created chaos in Hathazari Madrasa. As a result of which Mr. Ahmed Shafi died without mercy. That is, unnatural death, not normal death.
Demanding a judicial investigation into the whole matter, Mufti Waqqas said that if left without trial, chaos would spread throughout the Qaumi arena. Such a cruel death from Allama Shafi cannot be accepted. For this, I demand a judicial investigation of the Honorable Prime Minister.
On the occasion, a six-point statement was read, demanding a judicial investigation into the events of the last two days of Allama Shafi’s life and the student protests at Hathazari Madrasa.
The manifesto protests a number of issues, including a judicial investigation and the recent vandalism of Allama Shafi’s life by some students, forcing him to give up the madrasah he built.
The manifesto, on behalf of the country’s top clerics and the caliphs of Allama Shafi, said that some people were trying to spread unrest across the country after the Hathazari Madrasa incident. They have also called for a ‘Hathazari style’ revolution in madrassas across the country. Apart from this, there are various provocations on social media, including direct speeches about Deshbarenya Alems.
Among others who were present on the occasion were: the Deputy Secretary General of the Board of Education of the Qaumi Befaq Madrasa and Muhaddis Mufti Nurul Amin of the Faridabad Madrasa, Maulana Yahya Mahmud, Vice President of the National Board of Education of Religious Madrasa , Director of the Mirpur Pallabi Madrasa, Maulana Mawlami Pir Maulana Mukhlesur Rahman Kasemi, Khatib Maulana Jubayer of the Bakshibazar Mosque, Maulana Masudur Rahman Bikrampuri, President of the Manch Islamic Unit, Maulana Rezaul Karim, Secretary General of the Teachers Association Madrasa from Bangladesh.
