The podium has been handed over to the OC of the Nabinagar Police Station in Brahmanbaria. It is known that he entered the police station and declared the war on drugs. He had to leave the workplace within two and a half months of joining.

Meanwhile, OC Prabhas Chandra Dhar’s sudden transfer order (booth release) has caused a storm of discussion in the minds of the locals. Transferred OC Prabhas Dhar was instructed to join his new workplace before Friday (September 25). The transfer order was signed by AIG (Personnel Management-2) of the Mohammad Abdullah Baki Police Headquarters on Wednesday.

OC Prabhas Chandra Dhar is known to have joined the Nabinagar Police Station on 5 July in view of the deteriorating public order situation in Nabinagar Upazila. Previously, he was working as a CO at the Maheshkhali Police Station in Cox’s Bazar.

Several area residents told Kaler Kantha that after joining the Nabinagar Police Station, he declared war on drugs and drug dealers. The OC prohibited anyone other than the people involved in the case from entering the room.

Sources said that within days of joining, he demolished the drug dens of some locally identified influencers and stopped the anagona of identified runners at the police station. Many said he ignored the rhetoric of top ruling party leaders about those arrested during the anti-drug campaign. At first, newcomer OC got angry with drug dealers and influencers.

The sources further said that the CO also had disagreements with some of the higher echelons over the name and omission of the defendants in several sensitive cases. In all these cases, many influential people established hostile relationships with the OC in a short period of time.

In this situation, rumors spread in the area that OC Prabhas Dhar had been “released” on Thursday. The problem is also going viral on social media.

One police officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said such a sudden transfer in such a short time after joining would have enraged and frustrated some of the honest and efficient officers.

OC Prabhas Dhar could not be reached for comment. However, the additional police superintendent in charge of the Nabinagar Circle, Maqbool Hossain, told Kaler Kanth that the transfer was normal. The CO has been transferred by order of the government. The new CO will join again. This is a routine job, that’s all I know.

However, the transfer order issued on September 23 directed him to return to the new workplace on September 25 in just two days, the senior official said.
