The former chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah, has said that the people of Kashmir do not consider themselves Indians at this time. They don’t want to be Indians. They would prefer to remain under Chinese rule now. He added that Kashmiris were being treated as second-class citizens. Abdullah, the head of the National Conference Party and the best known ‘pro-India’ face in Jammu and Kashmir for four decades, said this in a strong and emotional interview.

In a 44-minute interview, Abdullah said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) claim that the people of Kashmir had embraced the August 2019 change simply because there were no protests was completely absurd.

He said that if troops and section 144 were withdrawn from all roads, millions of people would leave their homes. Abdullah said the new domicile law was enacted with the purpose of flooding Hindus in the valley and creating a Hindu majority. He said that he had further poisoned the minds of the Kashmiri people.

When asked how Kashmiris view the central government and especially Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Interior Minister Amit Shah, Abdullah said they were deeply disappointed. He said they have no confidence in the central government. The trust that once united Kashmir with the rest of the country has been broken. He released details of his meeting with the Prime Minister on August 5, 2019, about 72 hours before the constitutional change in Kashmir.

He said he sat down at the meeting to seek assurances from the Prime Minister on the continuation of Articles 370 and 35A. He asked the Prime Minister why there were so many troops in the valley and if it was due to some military threat.

Abdullah said the prime minister had deliberately tried to instill in him the idea that the increase in troops was for security reasons. He said Modi did not say a word about sections 370 and 35A. Abdullah left the meeting believing that paragraph two was not being changed. When asked, he agreed that the Prime Minister had confused and misled him.

Abdullah On August 5, 2019, when the sudden constitutional change was announced, the National Congress and all other major political parties were poorly valued in the eyes of Kashmiris. He said about himself, he has lost both sides. The center believes him to be a traitor and arrests him. And the people of Kashmir consider him a slave to India and call him a fair acquisition from Abdullah. They scolded her, mocking her as ‘Bharat Mata Ki Joy’. It shakes him deeply, it hurts him.

However, he said that he and other major parties had regained some prestige in the eyes of Kashmiris after being detained for six to seven months. People now realize that they are not slaves of India.

Abdullah said the National Congress and other parties were united on the issue of the Gopkar Declaration of August 2019.

It was said again in August of this year. He called for the restoration of the dignity of the people of Kashmir. This, he said, means the restoration of Articles 370 and 35A, the restoration of state dignity. He said that he would fight for him until his death, but that he would be peaceful.

Abdullah said he has confidence in the Supreme Court. He hopes that the verdict will be favorable to the suspension order applied by his party. Abdullah told The Wire that the Mufti and the Abdullah family have come together in the best interests of Kashmir by suppressing their past differences. He said that Mehbooba Mufti was very close to his son Omar and politically.

He said he communicates with her every week. She asked in an angrier voice in the interview why Mehbooba Mufti was not released. Is he a criminal? Times of India
