With the cancellation of the JSC exam, the board chairs were unable to decide on any specific testing method for their ninth pass.
Although the HSC exam was scheduled to take place in April, the public exam stalled when the educational institution was closed due to the coronavirus outbreak.
The educational institution has not yet decided to open. Additionally, the PEC and JSC exams were canceled. As a result, questions have been raised about the assessment method in case students pass the next class.
In this situation, all the chairmen of the general education boards participated in the inter-educational board meeting at the Dhaka board of education chairman’s office on Thursday.
Dhaka Board of Education Chairman Md. Ziaul Haque said: “We have nothing to do with this job (HSC exam date announcement). It is not up to the presidents to announce the date of the exam ”.
“It just came to our attention then. In this situation, there is no opportunity to announce the date of the test.”
No decision to cancel the HSC exam: Ministry
Admission to ninth class based on in-school assessment
The JSC-JDC exam will not take place this time
Evaluation of eighth grade students in their respective schools
The chairman of the Dhaka Board of Education said that JSC candidates will not receive “automatic promotion”. In other words, students will be tested in the ninth grade.
When asked what the evaluation method is in that case, he said: “I cannot say any specific evaluation method at this time. That will also depend on the situation.”
Ziaul Haque said: “The evaluation will depend on many things. If the assessment situation is created in the classroom, so be it.
“If you can evaluate online, you will be online. And if you can’t test online, then all the teachers in the school know the student. Continuus will evaluate based on the evaluation that is available. “
Regarding other classes, the chairman of the Dhaka Board said: “The Department of Secondary and Higher Education and the NCTB will issue a directive for the sixth and seventh classes.
“And in the case of the ninth class, an evaluation will be made in the same way and the next class will be passed. Because the ninth and tenth class together is a study program. Half of the curriculum is taught in ninth grade and the next part in tenth grade. Teaching for the ninth class will be taught in the tenth class. And what’s left in tenth grade will be finished when we open school. “
As for the promotion from class XI to class XII, he said, “educational institutions will evaluate them in their own way and hand them over to class XII.”
Many universities are failing without exams, said the chairman of the Dhaka Board, “most of them have almost finished their study program. Internal testing began, many were about to be tested. So there isn’t much of a problem with them. “
