The Bangladesh national cricket team has to meet the conditions given to them to tour Sri Lanka. Ashley de Silva, executive director of the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) board, informed them of the decision. The Tigers were scheduled to leave for the country next Sunday. There were supposed to be three tests in this Test Championship series.

Ashley de Silva told Sri Lankan media Thursday night: “We will strictly adhere to the guidelines set out by the Covid Task Force. If Bangladesh is not prepared for problems, we have to postpone the series. If that happens, we will consider doing the series at the same time next year.

The conditions imposed by Sri Lanka for the tour will be less than strange. They don’t even go with cricket culture. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has also said that the tour is not possible due to the conditions given by the country.

Sri Lanka has stated in its policy that cricketers must be quarantined for 14 days. Hotel rooms cannot be vacated at this time. You also can’t leave the room to eat. This was the quarantine condition. Other than this, the medical team cannot participate in the tour, but will not provide medical support. Net pitchers will not be given for practice but cannot be taken from Bangladesh.

BCB informed that it is not possible to carry out the visit in this way. Even then, Sri Lanka remains firm in its decision. However, SLC Secretary Mohan de Silva will visit Bangladesh on optimistic terms. “We have to follow strict health guidelines,” he said. I would like to thank the authorities who agreed with us to bring international cricket back in the midst of this epidemic. We have continued talks with them (BCB) and we are sure that they are negotiating these issues. Hopefully we can fix it. I hope that the Bangladesh team will come to Sri Lanka without delay.

The tour was to have three rounds in the ICC Test Championship. The Tigers are scheduled to leave Dhaka later this month. The probable start date for the test was October 24. The Bangladesh team was scheduled to leave Dhaka on September 27.
