Hasan Al Mamun, the coordinator of the Bangladesh General Council for Student Rights, has been expelled from the organization in hopes of being charged with rape and a three-member investigative committee has been formed. The organization said in a press release sent to the media on Wednesday.
A press release signed by the council’s joint coordinator, Muhammad Rashed Khan, said that on September 21 and 22, a student from Dhaka University filed two complaints with the Lalbagh and Kotwali police stations against four leaders and activists, including Hasan Al Mamun, the coordinator of the Student Rights Council. Since its inception, the Student Rights Council has played an active role in realizing the just rights of students and the masses. Therefore, a committee of members was formed to verify the veracity of the allegations presented against the leaders and workers of the organization and in the interest of fair justice. The three-member investigation committee includes the council’s DU chairman, Bin Yamin, and joint central coordinators Tariq Rahman and Rafia Sultana.
In addition, he said that the investigative committee must send the details of the incident to the central executive council within the next 48 hours with recommendations. Hasan Al Mamun, coordinator of the Bangladesh Student Rights Council, is being temporarily relieved of his duties for the sake of a proper and impartial investigation of the incident.
