The Bangladesh Student Rights Council, formed through a movement demanding the reform of government service fees, has formed a committee to investigate the incident and temporarily released him.

This information was given in a press release signed by the joint coordinator of the Bangladesh Student Rights Council, Muhammad Rashed Khan, on Wednesday.

Bin Yamin Mollah, chairman of the Dhaka University branch of the Student Rights Council, Tareq Rahman and Rafia Sultana, two joint coordinators of the organization’s central council, have been included in the investigation committee. They have been asked to send details of the incident to the organization’s executive council within the next 48 hours with recommendations.

The press release read: “Since its inception, the Student Rights Council has played an active role in realizing the logical and just rights of the people. Student rights have always played an important role in suppressing discrimination and oppression against women and in establishing women’s rights. Therefore, a three-member investigation committee has been formed to verify the veracity of the allegations presented against the leaders and workers of the organization and in the interest of fair justice.

A student from the Department of Islamic Studies at the University of Dhaka filed two cases against Nurul Haque Nur and his six accomplices under the Prevention of Abuse of Women and Children Act and the Digital Security Act at Lalbagh and Kotwali police stations el Sunday and Tuesday.

The main defendant in the first case is Hassan Al Mamun, a graduate of the Department of Islamic Studies, who has been the convener of the Student Rights Council from the beginning. Former Vice Chairman of Daksh Nurul Haque Nur is the joint coordinator of the council. Another joint council coordinator, Nazmul Hasan Sohag, has become the main defendant in the second case.

The plaintiff’s comment, which he read in the same section and worked for the Student Rights Council, led him to his “love affair” with Hassan al-Mamun. Taking advantage of this, Mamun took his home to Lalbagh on January 3 this year and ‘raped’ him. He filed the case at Lalbagh Police Station on this charge.

According to the case report from the Kotwali Police Station, Sohag admitted the student to the hospital when she fell ill after the incident. After recovering, the young woman pressured Mamun to get married. Sohag then assured her of her ‘cooperation’ and took her to ‘Chandpur by boat’ via Sadarghat, promising to meet Mamun.

But the student became suspicious because she could not find Mamun in Chandpur. It has been alleged in the case that Sohag ‘raped’ her on the way back from there.

According to the statement, the girl met with Nur to seek redress for the incident. Nur initially assured him of a “deal”, but later threatened to “disgrace him by spreading propaganda forbidding him to go too far.”

In addition, Saiful Islam, joint coordinator of the organization, Nazmul Huda, vice president of the Dhaka University branch and Abdullah Hill Baki are on the list of cases, including Nurul Haque Nur.
