The prime minister’s press secretary, Ihsanul Karim, said that Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban’s development activities were shown to the prime minister through a power point presentation in Ganobhaban on Wednesday.

According to parliamentary sources, the Parliament’s Secretariat has 1,321 officials and employees. But in the current parliament building, they face space limitations.

The Prime Minister’s Press Secretary said the PowerPoint presentation was made to utilize the 52,096 square foot space in North Parliament Square to address the space constraints of Parliament’s staff.

In addition, officials gave a presentation on other unfinished facilities in the original design by Louis Kahn, the architect of the Parliament building.

Ihsanul Karim said that the renovation of the main parliament building, the MP hostel and five NAM buildings were also presented.

The prime minister gave various necessary instructions to the concerned authorities for the development of the parliament building, the press secretary said.

Jatiya Sangsad President Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury, Whip Chief Nur-e-Alam Liton Chowdhury, Awami League Advertising and Publications Secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap, Chief Architect SAM Aminur Rahman were present at the occasion.
