A university student has brought a case against six members of the Bangladesh Student Rights Council, including former vice president of the Dhaka University Central Student Union (Daksu) Nurul Haque Nur, accused of rape and complicity. Nuzhat Faria Roxana, a former member of the Eden Women’s College BCL convening committee, was criticized for punishing Nur and her associates by sharing a story on social media Facebook.
The student stated: ‘Although I am not involved in the case in any way, Nur’s associates are slandering me in various ways. By doing so, my family and I are being socially degraded.
Nuzhat Faria Roxana said: “As Nur, who is accused of rape, received a status on Facebook asking for punishment, his followers are giving various nasty statuses on his Facebook and in the quota reform group using my photo.”
“A girl from Dhaka University has presented a case, I am studying at Eden. But using my photos, various false and fabricated slander is being spread, which is an insult and humiliation for a woman. I am preparing to present a case against these ugly people under the Digital Security Act, ‘said the student.
Daksur Vice Chairman Nurul Haque Nur told NTV Online: ‘I don’t know who is doing this. But no one from our responsible place did it.
When asked what he would do about it, Nur said: “Social media is a great platform. A lot of people here do a lot of things on their own. But I will tell everyone to be careful not to spread against him.
A student from the Department of Islamic Studies at the University of Dhaka has brought two cases against six people, including Nurul Haque Nur, under the Prevention of Abuse of Women and Children Act and the Digital Security Act in police stations in Lalbagh and Kotwali in the last two days. The case alleges kidnapping, rape, complicity and complicity between them and digital propaganda through humiliation.
The defendants in the case brought to Kotwali Police Station on Monday are Nazmul Hasan Sohag, 26, Joint Coordinator of the Bangladesh Student Rights Council, Hasan Al Mamun, 28, former Vice President of Daksh Nurul Haque Nur, 25, and Saiful Islam, 28, joint coordinator of the Student Rights Council. Nazmul Huda (25) and Abdullahil Baki (23) are vice presidents of the Student Rights Council of Dhaka University. The DU student filed a case against the same defendant at Lalbagh Police Station on Sunday. Hasan Al Mamun, the coordinator of the Bangladesh General Council for Student Rights, became the number one defendant in the case.
After accepting the brief of the case against Nur yesterday afternoon, the court ordered the presentation of the investigation report on 8 October.
In the statement, the plaintiff in the case mentioned the Dhaka University student: “The defendant Hasan Al Mamun is a student of the seventh group of the Department of Islamic Studies of the University of Dhaka. He is the older brother in my department and I met him through the Bangladesh Student Rights Council. I had a personal relationship with Mamun on July 29, 2016 and then it turned into a love story. Continuing with this, I had conversations with the accused through messenger, emo, WhatsApp at different times. There the defendant gave me indications of a physical relationship. After this, the defendant asked me to come to his home in the Nawabganj Bara Masjid area on January 3 this year around 2 pm and raped me at his home after showing me the temptation to marry.
“I became ill on January 4 after the incident,” the statement said. On January 12, I was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital through Mamun’s friend Sohag. Mamun and Sohag prevented me from contacting campus journalists while I was hospitalized. Earlier, when Mamun was pressured into getting married, she agreed, but after I got sick, she started making excuses. ‘
The statement further said that the matter was verbally reported to Vice President Nur on June 20 without any changes. “Nur said,” Mamun is my comrade in arms. I’ll make an arrangement by sitting with him. Then, on June 24, he came to meet me in Nilkhet with the assurance of an agreement. But he forbade me to go too far in this regard, avoiding the question of arrangement. If I exaggerate, she will threaten to post my name on Facebook with her fans and promote me as a prostitute. The campaign was threatened by a group of 1.1 million members of its Student Rights Council. Nur added: “All my respect will disappear in one of their lives. Meanwhile, Saiful Islam, the fourth defendant in the case, has spread slander on my behalf and has used the fifth and sixth defendants to spread slander. They talk about my character in the messaging chat group and conspire to annoy me. ‘
In the statement, the plaintiff further stated: “Although some of the leaders of the Student Rights Council wanted to work for a just solution to the problem, the defendants called them conspirators. After that, I was physically and mentally ill and there was a delay in filing the case due to speaking with my relatives.
